Mining conveyors and structural fabrication for North Shore mines
CFI Industries designs and installs high-capacity belt conveyors, heavy structures and handling equipment for iron mines, ore carriers and extraction sites of the North Shore, Fermont and Schefferville. Structural CWB welding, fast camp mode mobilization, Cognibox compliance.
Why mining companies choose CFI for Quebec
The Quebec mining sector — iron, ilmenite, niobium, lithium, rare earths — demands suppliers capable of operating in extreme conditions: isolation, −40 °C temperatures, very strict OHS requirements, short shutdown windows, complex logistics. CFI Industries has built its mining expertise on the North Shore for over 25 years.
Our crews intervene in camp mode at Fermont, Schefferville and extraction sites along Route 389 and the Trans-Quebec-Labrador road. Structural CWB W47.1 welding for heavy frames, fabrication of high-capacity belt conveyors, repair of primary and secondary transporters, transfer chute modifications.
Our Saint-Bruno workshop fabricates pre-assembled conveyor sections ready to ship — major time saving on remote sites. All quality documentation (welding procedures, material certificates, OIQ engineer-stamped drawings) accompanies each delivery.
Our offering for the mining sector
High-capacity belt conveyors
Design and fabrication of belt conveyors for raw ore, concentrate or waste rock transport. Capacities up to 5,000 t/h, lengths up to 2 km per section. EP belts, steel cord or fire-resistant according to application.
CWB W47.1 structural fabrication
Steel frames for conveyor galleries, equipment supports, heavy platforms, industrial stairs. W47.1 Division 1 or 2 welding per requirements. Hot-dip galvanizing available. Compliant with S16-19 and CSA W59.
Mining shutdown mechanics
Fast mobilization for planned shutdowns and emergency breakdowns: conveyor drum replacement, transfer chute repair, belt alignment, on-site structural welding. 14/14 camp mode crews available.
Welder and mechanic leasing
CWB welders and industrial mechanics with mining experience, current Cognibox card, specific training (explosives loading, confined space, height). For production reinforcement or vacation coverage.
Mining sector challenges — and our responses
Can you mobilize on remote sites (Fermont, Schefferville)?
Yes. We have operated in camp mode for 25+ years. Road or rail transport logistics (Schefferville accessible only by train), full crew handling on site (housing, transport, meals). Mobilization possible within 48-72 h on notice.
Do your certifications meet ArcelorMittal and IOC requirements?
Yes — Cognibox CMS, Alcumus eCompliance, Mining Safety Code site training. Current certificates, supplier audit passed. Documented experience on sites of major miners operating in Quebec and Labrador.
Can you fabricate pre-assembled sections?
It's our standard approach for mining. We pre-assemble conveyor sections, transfer chutes and structures in our Saint-Bruno workshop, then ship by special convoy or container. Reduces on-site installation time by 40-60%.
Do you include engineering?
Yes, senior engineer member of OIQ. Structure calculations, belt and drum sizing, motor and reducer selection, stamped drawings. Compliance with CSA S16, W47.1, B167. Possible Pareto review with your engineering department.
